From childhood explorations in North Carolina's red clay to protecting native habitats in Southern California, Hera Ceramics emerges from a deep connection to wild spaces and environmental stewardship. Savannah Stallings is an artist rooted in conservation work and advocacy for biodiversity and habitats, each piece draws inspiration from the diverse ecosystems of San Diego - from chaparral forests to wetlands.
Hera Ceramics balances minimalist design with organic expression. Working with both traditional and wild-harvested materials, her practice honors the inherent beauty of what the earth provides and explores ways to give back to it. Each piece emerges from a dedication to thoughtful design and careful execution, whether crafting sculptural works or functional pieces that elevate daily rituals. These pieces are designed to last generations while evoking a sense of serenity and connection to the natural world – objects made to be cherished, used, and contemplated for years to come.

Wild clay: Foraged and processed for use in the studio as an alternative to commercially mined and formulated materials. Each clay body carries its own unique characteristics - color, texture, plasticity, and firing temperature - along with its own story. Working with wild clay requires getting to know its distinct needs and limits, discovering how it most fully expresses itself while maintaining an innate connection to the land from which it was gathered.
